Branko Hojnik holds a degree from the University of Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In 1998 he won the Prešeren Award for his paintings. As a scenographer, and often as a lighting designer, he has taken part in more than 190 theatre, opera, dance and puppet productions, at nearly all the theatres in Slovenia, as well as theatres in the former Yugoslavia, Germany, Russia, and Norway. He has collaborated with many local and foreign directors (he is known for his close collaboration with Jernej Lorenci, with whom he has worked since they were students), including Slobodan Unkovski, Vito Taufer, Eduard Miler, Mateja Koležnik, Tomi Janežič, and Igor Vuk Torbica. He has received numerous national and international awards for his works.
