MATKO BOTIĆ
Matko Botić (Rijeka, 1980) is a lecturer at the Department of Acting at the University of Split Academy of Arts. He is art director of the PlayDrama Split theater. He lives and works in Zagreb and Split as a theatrologist, dramaturge, and musician. He holds a degree in Croatian Language and Literature from the University of Rijeka Faculty of Philosophy, and in 2012 defended the dissertation Croatian Prose in Newer Croatian Theater: Theoretical and Dramaturgical Aspects at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy, which he published in 2013 under the title Igranje proze, pisanje kazališta (Playing prose, writing theater), as part of the Mansioni edition by the Croatian ITI Center. He has published more than two hundred theater critiques and theatrology essays in Croatia and abroad, most often in the Kazalište journal and on the Kazalište.hr portal. He is associated with the Croatian ITI Center, where he is editor of several theatrology publications in the Mansioni edition, as well as journals in Croatian, English and Spanish language. He has presented scientific papers at most national professional theatrology conferences: Krleža’s Days in Osijek, Rijeka Philological Days, and Ranko Marinković’s Days in Komiža. He has collaborated as a selector, judge, roundtable moderator, and guest critic with theater festivals in the region: the International Small Scene Theater Festival in Rijeka, the International Theater Festival MESS Sarajevo, Eurokaz Zagreb, Days of Satire Zagreb, Festival of Bosnia and Herzegovina Drama Zenica, the FIAT Festival Podgorica, the Yugoslav Theater Festival Užice, the Fortress Theater Festival Smederevo, the Naj, Naj, Naj Festival Zagreb, the Puppet Theater Review Rijeka, the Assitej Festival Čakovec, etc. He has collaborated as dramaturge and dramatizer with most Croatian theater companies, with directors Olja Lozica, Tamara Kučinović, Vinko Brešan, Saša Anočić, Jagoš Marković, Laslo Keseg, Janoš Sikor, Nemanja Ranković, Aida Bukvić, etc. He has been involved as a dramaturge in radio and television projects by the Croatian Radiotelevision, as well as in documentary films. He works occasionally as editor and host of programs about theater on Croatian Radio and HRT3 TV. He has written scores for theater productions by Olja Lozica, Tamara Kučinović, and Petra Kovačić Pavlina, as well as documentary films by Miroslav Sikavica. He plays guitar and mandolin in the My Buddy Moose band from Rijeka, and guitar in The Strange, an international project.
